Title SEMIVOLATILE COMPOUNDS
Abstract A measured volume of sample, approximately one-liter, is serially extracted with methylene chloride at a pH greater than 11 and again at pH less than 2 using a separatory funnel or a continuous extractor. The methylene chloride extract is dried and concentrated to a volume of 1 mL. Chromatographic conditions are described which permit the separation and measurement of the parameters in the extract. Qualitative identification is performed using the retention time and the relative abundance of three characteristic ions.
